Press & research enquiries
We publish original measurements taken from our own scanner, and journalists are welcome to quote them. If you are writing about web performance, image optimization or accessibility, we are happy to:
- Explain exactly how a figure was measured, and what its limits are.
- Run a specific cut of the data if the question is answerable from what we hold.
- Tell you plainly when our data cannot answer something, and point you at a better source such as HTTP Archive or the Web Almanac.
The two published datasets:
- What 615 Real Image Audits Found — 615 sites, 16,110 images, a self-selected field sample.
- The State of Web Image Optimization 2026 — a curated benchmark of 44 popular sites, with segment breakdowns.
The two use different sampling and their numbers are not interchangeable — each page says so, and we would rather be quoted accurately than impressively. If you need a figure attributed a particular way, ask and we will tell you what the data does and does not support.
Something broken, or a scan gone wrong?
Please include the URL you were scanning and roughly when you tried it. Scans can fail for reasons outside our control — sites that block headless browsers, pages that never finish loading, or bot protection — and knowing the URL is usually the difference between a guess and a fix. The converters run entirely in your browser, so for those it also helps to know which browser and roughly what the file was.
Developers
The CLI, MCP server and GitHub Action are open source, and bug reports are usually better as issues than as email, since other people can find them. See integrations for the repositories and install instructions. Anything that needs a private channel — security reports especially — is welcome by email.
What we cannot help with
We do not offer paid support, SEO consulting, or link exchanges, and guest-post pitches go unanswered. Everything on the site is free and stays free, which also means replies are best-effort rather than guaranteed within any particular window.
